Flange bolts are machine threaded for use with a nut. They have a flange under the head that acts like a built in flat washer. This bolt is identifiable by the ridge or surrounding the bolt head, this built-in washer under the head of the Bolt acts to distribute the clamping load over a greater area. These bolts are sometimes called Frame bolts. A hexagonal head for use with a wrench.
